Our newest HO Kit release is the #12800 Series B-50-15 single sheathed box car with steel sheathing, Murphy radial roof and AB brakes for Southern Pacific and subsidiaries. Our One-Piece Body Kit covers series #14480-15229, 750 cars built in 1925 by Standard Steel Car Co. The original single wood sheathed box cars differed from previous SP types in that they used hat section side posts of the 1924 design in a Pratt truss arrangement. In 1935, SP began converting the cars to steel sheathing, first for Pacific Motor Trucking (PMT) service, then for Baggage Express (BX) service in 1942. Freight versions of these cars also began receiving steel sheathing in this period and by the beginning of WWII, 930 cars in freight service had been converted (Total of all B-50-15 built versions was 3900 cars). Beginning in 1942, the cars began receiving AB brakes as well.
Now Available: Original Wood Sheathed, SP Pacific Motor Trucking (PMT) and Overnight Versions of the B-50-15 SS Box Car.

Our newest HO Kit release is the #12400 Series USRA DS Express Box for Northwestern Pacific. These 22 Express service cars were rebuilt from the 100 USRA DS box cars allocated to the NWP in 1919. The cars were originally rebuilt into express service in 1939 (Westerfield Kit #3818) but the service was discontinued during WWII. In April, 1949, the cars were rebuilt with passenger steam, signal and air lines, and passenger style low uncoupling levers and retainer. They were repainted with the famous "Redwood Empire Route Overnight" lettering. These cars were painted SP Dark Olive Green with black roof, underframe and trucks.
Our #12400 Series ONE-PIECE BODY Kits cover the 1949 version of the Express Service box car with NWP’s "Redwood Empire Route Overnight" lettering scheme as well as passenger style steam and signal lines. This colorful lettering is accurately reproduced with our multi-color decal set.

Al Westerfield commented about the new Westerfield Models:
"The new owner of Westerfield Models has submitted several kits for my inspection. The castings were excellent and all the parts, decals and instructions were present. I have no hesitation in recommending the kits. Andrew Dahm is continuing the quality you have come to expect from the Westerfield line of model railroad products."
